What are injectables?
Botox and dermal fillers are all injectables used in the facial area to treat age-related fine lines, wrinkles and furrows. Botox is typically injected in three areas: the forehead, glabella, and crow's feet and relax the muscles causing the lines. Dermal fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, or Voluma plump, fill, and lift to sculpt facial features and also visibly soften the appearance of deep lines, sagging, furrows, smoker's lines, and thin lips. We provide topical and (if necessary) local anesthesia for comfort to our patients receiving filler injections. Most patients require little to no downtime after their Botox or filler procedure. Botox® or Dysport Injections
Botox and Dysport injections are a procedure that reduce and even eliminate facial wrinkles and frown lines by paralyzing the causative muscle movement underneath the skin. Each treatment takes minutes to perform and should last approximately 3-4 months. Results can be seen in as little as 2-3 days and wrinkles improve dramatically within 2 weeks after treatment. Areas that can be treated include the forehead, brow, glabella (between the brows), crow’s feet (fine wrinkles around the eyes), and vertical lip lines. We carry Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin.
Often called a "facelift in a tube," dermal fillers can restore volume loss, increase collagen, and pull moisture to the skin. Fillers are an injectable hyaluronic acid gel that is placed just below the skin surface. This adds volume to the skin, smoothing away unwanted wrinkles and lines with immediate results. Areas that may be treated include: facial creases, nasolabial folds (smile lines), marionette lines, frown lines, depresssed scars, and vertical lip lines. Lip volume and fullness can also be enhanced by this method. These injections are typically Juvederm or Restylane injections. Filler injections last approximately 8 months to 1 year. As various fillers work best in different areas of the face we provide the full array of dermal fillers available. See below for a description of Juvederm Voluma, which builds the cheekbones and sculpts the face!
Juvederm Voluma XC
Molecularly, Juvederm Voluma XC is most highly cross-linked (meaning it is thicker than other fillers). It is designed to contour the face and restore lost volume to the cheeks, cheekbones, jawline and skin. It can provide contour to sculpt the entire face and give a subtle lift for up to two years with optimal treatment.
Kybella is the only FDA approved injectable treatment for submental fullness, the “double chin.” Kybella is made of deoxycholic acid, which destroys fat cells when injected. Your body then naturally processes and eliminates them from the body, which results in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once these fat cells are destroyed and removed they can no longer store or accumulate fat, so results are permanent and further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.
An adjunct or even an alternative to laser treatment, Sclerotherapy involves injections to eliminate spider veins of the legs. Using a tiny needle, fine veins are injected with a sclerosing solution, which causes them to collapse and fade from view. The procedure may also remedy the bothersome symptoms associated with spider veins, including aching, burning and swelling. May need multiple treatments depending upon extent of spider veins present. This treatment can be done before or after a course of laser treatment.
“I received both Botox and Juvederm injections at my appointment and I was able to go to dinner that night with no bruising and little swelling. Dr. McKenna and Alexis are so incredibly skilled and fastidious that no one will be able to tell you had work done, yet friends will tell you that you look refreshed. My face hasn't been this smooth in 15 years.”
